They didn't have s.s/then.I'm looking for William Dempsey who came to Botetourt Co.,Va. about1734/37 as an orphan. He was born in Dublin,Ireland about1721/25.He was married 2 times to a Gulliver3children -William Jr.married Jane DuBartis, Polly,John who married Rachel Solomon a Jewish girl who was an orphan.2nd marriage after his 1st wife died to a Meadows children-Elizabeth and Mark who married a Mary Turner. He was an orphan. Immigrated from Ireland with an Uncle at the age of 4. Some believe he immigrated as an indentured servant. Married second wife, some say, circa 1746. [This date must apply to the first wife, Gulliver, as she bore children as late as 1758.] Fought in the French and Indian Wars and was taken prisoner in 1756.
